ERIN PFIFFNER

Proprietress

I’m a zealous, self-confident businesswoman and team leader with oodles (10+ years) of print and media design experience. If you ask me what I’m motivated by, I’d say that I’ve got a fierce commitment to human connections and product relevance. Basically...I dig art, science, and psychology.

I founded this little design biz, The Epiffany Effect, to empower fellow entrepreneurs, start-ups, small businesses and event planners to embrace the lost, but not forgotten, Bauhaus concept of “less is more” and bring the “human” back into brand cultures around the globe. Ambitious, isn’t it? So am I.

I’m a plucky leader who is sought out for my ability to visually interpret complex messages into polished and inventive design solutions that change behaviors and generate results. I’ve been told I have a way of:

  1. bringing out the creative side in others

  2. tackling tough business challenges with grace

  3. introducing simple but game-changing solutions

  4. successfully building and leading creative teams to realize their personal and business potential

While simultaneously steering The Epiffany Effect, I am a founding member of DC-based entrepreneurial support group Venture 360º and an Advisory Committee member for the Fabulous DC Women Business Owners group.

I live and work in the heart of Washington DC’s vibrant northwest neighborhood with my loving husband and five fish.

ABOUT

Q: What does the ‘Epiffany Effect’ mean?

I live for “ah ha” moments. You know...those times where you find yourself on the other side of clutter and everything is crystal clear...an epiphany, if you will.

Through the art and science of mind-mapping, I’ve gotten pretty good at harnessing epiphanies. But it is selfish for me to treasure those moments for myself so I’ve opted to use my powers for good and offer my talents to clients like you.

The Epiffany Effect (n.) is your call to action to seek clarity, focus on what matters, and go forth with a purpose that puts human experience and relevancy at the center of each of your actions. The wacky spelling with two “f’s” is a nod my surname, pronounced “piff-ner.”

Q: Why do you have a sea slug on your homepage?

One word: biomimicry. We can learn a lot from nature and I have always been creatively inspired by my science-y friends who are aquarists, biologists, botanists, entomologists, chemists, or physicists.

These sea slugs, called ‘nudibranchs,’ do a really cool thing...they absorb the toxins from what they eat (other dead fish) and wear them proudly on their outsides to ward off predators. While I’m not as defense-oriented as nudibranchs, I like the idea of full emersion with those we encounter and will periodically change my logo color scheme here on the Web or on my business cards to reflect colors from others who have made their way into my heart. You’ll see a lot of my work incorporate things found in nature and many of my preferred vendors proudly embrace “green” practices.
